Who would have thought…
Exactly a year ago, WordPress was letting the Daily Prompt go, and the Word of the Day Challenge was taking off! Four bloggers, from all around the globe, who teamed up to offer an alternative site where any writer could come and seek a little bit of inspiration.
It was quite a year, we all had our ups and downs, our own challenges to face in “real life” and it is with great pleasure that I look back, and see that despite the sometimes bumpy road, the Word of the Day Challenge blog has been quite a success!
Pretty world map, uh?
Just to give you an idea, one year of the Word of the Day Challenge, that means;
- Eighty seven countries who visited our blog, at least once.
- Over fourty thousands views so far!
- An average of about twenty participations to the challenge everyday.
- A growing crowd, that should soon reach the amazing milestone of 500 followers!
And though we have lost the collaboration of Kate, some time last year, we have gained the artsy help of Kira shortly after, and tomorrow, she will greet us with her (already) forty third weekly art piece! Wow, right?
So it only felt natural to come thank each and everyone of you, dear fellow wordsmiths from all around the world, for your growing support along the last twelve months! Wether you are a daily contributor to the challenge, or just come from time to time to get a little inspiration, be assured that your presence is appreciated, and none of this would have been possible without you!
Just a quick reminder, for those of you who would have started to follow the Word of the Day Challenge just recently… You can learn a little more about Dee, Kristian and/or me by visiting our About us page. You can also find the A to Z page in the header of our blog, if you’d like to have a look at the different words that have already been part of our daily prompts, the photo prompts and the art pieces from Kira!
Again, thank you for sticking with us! And, as usual, don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts or questions in the comment box, or via our “contact” page.
Keep up the good work, keep blogging and keep having fun!
Cyranny
P.S. I’d just like to give a shout-out to Cee who has built a list of the different writing challenges she has found through her own blogging experience… If you’d like to discover new challenges, come and have a look here!
You guys are doing a marvelous job! Thanks!

Happy Birthday to the Word of the Day site, and many thanks to everyone who has supported and taken part in this endeavour.
There are a quite a few word prompt challengers on the blogosphere now, but we are not in competition with each other, it isn’t a contest, it is about providing writers with an inspirational spark.
Personally, I like to weave several word prompts together in a story or a poem.
